About Amy's Law Office
Amy J. Seamann started her own law firm in 2023. For the past eight years previous, Amy worked for the Honorable Judge Sam L. Amirante (ret.) wherein she was named as a partner within his prestigious firm. Her passion is litigation and it shows in the courtroom where she has won many cases for numerous clients. Amy was also the recipient of the Super Lawyer's Rising Star Award in both 2022 and 2023.
Most recently, in June of 2023, she alone secured a not guilty verdict in a case with a twelve count indictment after a multi day trial where her client was facing a possible prison term of over 65 years and certain deportation. Amy has tried a multitude of cases, having participated in a murder trial last November with Judge Amirante's firm, cross examining several witnesses and delivering the closing argument, wherein the firm was successful in winning the murder trial outright, with a finding of not guilty as to both counts. Before that, Amy solely tried and won an eleven-count indictment after a multi-day bench trial wherein the client was facing a penalty of a minimum of twenty years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
During her time with Amirante Law Offices, Amy litigated hundreds of hearings, bench trials, and secured not guilty verdicts in many jury trials, both in misdemeanor and felony cases. In May of 2022, Amy alone handled a jury trial with ten witnesses where her client was facing six charges and, after three days of trial, the jury returned a not guilty verdict as to all counts. She has also handled multiple expert witness DCFS matters wherein she cross examined the head of the Child Abuse Pediatric Unit at Lurie's Hospital and a world renowned expert with the University of Chicago, to a several day indirect criminal contempt jury trial arising out of a heavily contested years long probate matter, all with success. Amy also specializes in domestic battery matters where she has exposed the lies and the biases of a multitude of complaining witnesses in many hearings and trials.
Amy earned her J.D. where she served as a client advocate in conjunction with the Elder Law and the Domestic Violence legal clinics, earning the Chancellor's Award for Service. As a student in the civil rights clinic, Amy had the opportunity to work closely with brilliant attorneys from the People’s Law Office. Amy was also a student in both the criminal and the advanced criminal appeals clinics. A case on which she drafted a portion of the opening brief earned an outright reversal in the Illinois Appellate Court in May 2014. Amy has also argued in front of the Second District Appellate Court in 2017 and a brief which she drafted while at Amirante Law Offices allowed a constitutional issue to be argued orally in front of the First District Appellate Court in 2016.
Amy is a recipient of the CALI award for excellence which she received in Trial Advocacy II. She was also a member of the Moot Court Society where she placed in the top eight in the Evans Moot Court Competition. While in school, Amy won a scholarship for a paper she wrote which addressed several civil rights issues exacerbated by our legal infrastructure.
Amy is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Northwest Suburban Bar Association, the DuPage Bar Association, and the Chicago Bar Association.
